The Founder

Anneke created the company in 2004, and since then has been determined to put the Escape Nomade brand on the map of the international new sustainable luxury goods market. In order to reach that goal, she decided not to compete with the old world luxury brands, but to jump ship and actively work to create the new world where:

'simplicity is the ultimate luxury'.

Anneke's mission is to educate and enlarge people’s environmental awareness by opening doors to remote areas that would otherwise be inaccessible, thus, conserving both nature and culture.. protecting the environment and cultural heritage.
For Anneke, the reason to design and manufacture tents is to create a sustainable, elegant, comfortable, safe and self-sufficient mobile living space in nature, delivered by knowledgeable people and their enthusiastic family members for a fair profit to all stakeholders.
In the 1980’s, her New York based nonprofit, East Meets West, wrote the guidelines for Design for the Environment (DFE). These guidelines focus on the overall human health and environmental impact of a product. They consider people and planet before profit.
They were later successfully adapted by the Environmental Protection Agency, AT&T, and IBM, and helped them save millions of dollars in the first year alone.
